Camp Arroyo

Camps - 2008
Our next camps will be July 27-30 and July 30-August 2, 2008. The camps were fully subscribed at registration (held at the Livermore Civic Center Library on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am). We are no longer accepting applications for the 2008 camps.

Camp costs
We rely on your Regional Center purchase of services to pay for camp costs. If RCEB does not cover all of your camper's costs, please apply for The Community Association for the Retarded and Handicapped (CARH) campership. For more information, please contact Margaret Graybill at (510) 537-6611. For general information, click here to visit: Community Assistance for Retarded and Handicapped.

About the camps
Since 2002, ENN has hosted CAMP ARROYO with the support of Regional Center of the East Bay and theThe Taylor Family Foundation. The camps accommodate up to 50 developmentally delayed youth, age 6 - 21. The ratio of children to counselors is 1:1 or 2:1, depending on the specific requirements of the child. We use the Camp Arroyo facility provided to us by the Taylor Family Foundation. This site is in the hills overlooking Livermore wine country and is equipped with cabins, a dining facility, and an activity center. The camps have been a rewarding experience year after year.

The Taylor Family Foundation
The Taylor Family Foundation provides and financially sponsors special needs groups with a once-in-a-lifetime camping experience at Camp Arroyo, at no charge to the group. Camp Arroyo was built by the Taylor Family Foundation in partnership with the East Bay Regional Park District. The camp's operator is the YMCA of the East Bay, which also runs its outdoor environmental education program during the school months. Camp Arroyo is a state-of-the-art camp facility in Livermore, built with kids in mind. The camp's design takes into consideration the children's physical and emotional needs and offers a lot of fun in a safe and loving environment. Do you want to recommend a counselor?
If you have a family friend or someone who works with your child on a regular basis and you want that person to be your child's counselor at camp, they must follow the application instructions on the Counselor info page. They must also meet with Laura McSheffrey, who leads our staffing efforts. This applies only to new counselors who have not been at Camp Arroyo before.

etc.
We even have our own theme song! To download it, click here: Camp Arroyo mp3.
